The American Association of University Women, Carbondale Branch, is pleased to present this program as part of its purpose to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. Join us to better understand careers and work available for women in aviation, an underrepresented career field for women. Members of the panel are Dr. Karen Johnson, Associate Professor, SIU Aviation Technologies and Advisor for the Women in Aviation student organization. Prior to her 15 years in academia, she spent six years as a field mechanic on Bell 206L-1s for Air Evac Lifeteam. Joining Dr. Johnson on the panel will be three current students in SIU's Aviation Technologies and Flight programs--Sarah Cada, Annabelle Staples, and Genny Starren. Panel members will discuss their backgrounds, their decision-making in selecting a career in aviation, and who influenced them in their career choice. Dr. Ella Lacey, AAUW Carbondale Branch President, will serve as panel moderator. This virtual program is being hosted by the Carbondale Public Library.
